The following information should be self-explanatory. See also “the Training Process”.  If you have ANY questions about the membership process or the training process then contact the New Member Coordinator at new@sspcact.org.au. And be patient – we are all volunteers.

If you already have a Category H (Handgun) licence, and are a current or recent member of another approved club:

  1. Obtain a National Police Check certificate. (information is on the ACT or NSW Firearms Registry pages)
  2. Obtain a letter from an official at your present or most recent club stating that you are (or have recently been) a financial member and an active shooter in good standing with that club.
  3. Obtain two referee reports that state you are of good character.
  4. Find your membership card for the Sporting Shooter’s Association Australia Inc. (if you are not a member then you need to join and obtain that card)
  5. Fill out the SSPC Membership Application Form from including the declaration form and fees calculator.
  6. Obtain a “safe handling” certificate from the Chief Instructor or delegate.
  7. Check again that you have ALL the documentation required – your membership cannot be accepted unless you have it all.
  8. Arrange to meet with the New Member Coordinator.
  9. Once endorsed by the New Member Coordinator, come to the next monthly meeting with the paperwork above, introduce yourself to the committee and your application for membership will be considered.
  10. Come to one of our monthly meetings with the paperwork above plus your ACT or NSW drivers licence, introduce yourself to the committee and your application for membership will then be processed.
  11. Once you are accepted you must pay the relevant fees  (membership component  is calculated from the month after you are accepted) by bank transfer within 48 hours.
  12. Once your fees have been paid you will be issued with your membership card and can enjoy our facilities and comradeship.

If you do not hold a Category H (Handgun) licence and wish to train with us to achieve one:

  1. Read ‘The Training Process” on this website to learn it involves and check that you can commit to that process.
  2. Obtain a National Police Check certificate. (information is on the ACT or NSW Firearms Registry pages)
  3. Obtain two referee reports that state you are of good character.
  4. If you aren’t already a member of the Sporting Shooter’s Association Australia Inc. you’ll need to join that association and receive an SSAA number.
  5. Fill out the SSPC Membership Application Form from including the declaration form and fees calculator.
  6. Check again that you have ALL the documentation required – your membership cannot be accepted unless you have it all.
  7. Arrange to meet with the New Member Coordinator.
  8. Once endorsed by the New Member Coordinator, come to the next monthly meeting with the paperwork above, introduce yourself to the committee and your application for membership will be considered.
  9. When you are told when your training  will commence you must pay the relevant fees  (membership component  is calculated from the month training commences) by bank transfer within 48 hours. You will be issued with your membership card and can enjoy our facilities and comradeship.
